To support the achievement of these commitments, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motived Relief Water Operative in the island of North Ronaldsay (Orkney).
About the Role
As relief operator, you will be responsible for maintaining water quality to a high standard and for ensuring the delivery of a constant supply of wholesome water to our customers. Additional hours may also be required to cover holiday and training etc. The role will also include regulatory sampling and water networks duties. The successful candidate must be resident on the island.

The Main Duties of the Role
Water Treatment – To ensure, from source to tap, that water quality (WQ) is optimised to the highest standard and is always within the required parameters.
Water Networks – To ensure a constant supply of water to our customers, maintaining our networks and reacting to ensure any burst losses are kept to a minimum, while following robust WQ procedures to maintain quality.
Customer Service – To ensure customer issues are resolved in a timely manner, balancing the best outcome for the customer and Scottish Water.
Asset Management – To support the operational requirements of all water assets to achieve optimum water quality standards in accordance with environmental objectives and relevant legislation. To support and contribute to development and implementation of water quality targets, route cause analysis and environmental issues.
Processes and Procedures -To ensure 100% compliance with all Health and Safety and legislative requirements both for yourself, and any assets or contractors within your responsibility.
Essential Skills and Experience Required:
A proven track record in managing your own work to ensure targets and objectives are met and the confidence to work on your own, taking responsibility for delivering results.
The ability to plan and prioritise your work, whilst maintaining flexibility to accommodate changing priorities.
Experience or an understanding of working within a strong Health & Safety culture to ensure that all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
Be a strong team player, who can work well with others to achieve common goals and have a willingness to learn from others.
