Industrial action latest . . .

The latest updates to expected disruptions to Orkney Islands Council services due to industrial action tomorrow, Wednesday, are detailed below:

Schools:

  • St Andrews Primary will be closed to pupils from Nursery and P5/4. All other classes at St Andrews will be open.

The council expects all other schools in Orkney to be closed to pupils. Parents are being informed by the school their children attend.

Recreational and cultural services:

  • Stromness Swimming Pool will be closed. The Health and Fitness Suite will open for the evening sessions.

Domestic rubbish and recycling collection
Collections:

There will be no domestic collection on  November 30, on the Orkney Mainland. The next collection date for the affected areas will be the following Wednesday (December 7).
It is expected that commercial collections will take place on Wednesday as normal.

Waste and Recycling centres

  • All recycling centres in Orkney will be closed to the public.
  • The waste transfer facility at Chinglebraes will also be closed to the public.
