In this week’s edition of The Orcadian

This week’s edition of The Orcadian is now available in shops and online, here.

This week’s front page features a photo from this year’s special Remembrance Day events, which marked 100 years since Armistice Day.

Also on the front page, local farmers see red over school dinner plans. A number of farmers have taken to social media to criticise OIC plans to reduce red meat on the menu at Kirkwall Grammar school, ahead of expected new guidelines from the Scottish Government.

This week’s edition also features a special pull-out feature, covering this year’s Remembrance Day events. This feature collects photos from around the county and coverage from last weekend’s events, as well as interviews with Orkney Islands Council Convener Harvey Johnston and a double page feature on the Pages of the Sea event held at Scapa Beach.

Also in this week’s edition of the paper:

• The OIC pension fund invests in the tobacco trade.

• Scottish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) responds to community feedback.

• An acting legend is Orkney-bound — Sir Ian McKellen to round off a special birthday tour in Kirkwall.

• Scotland international pool player Rachael Sutherland gets set to compete against the world’s top talents.

For all these stories and much, much more pick up a copy of today’s edition of The Orcadian.
