Hoy pool repairs scheduled — but lack of lifeguards causes concern
Repairs at the North Walls swimming pool in Hoy are progressing and it is hoped the pool will be open within the school year.
Attempts to repair a valve which controls the flow of water through the filter tank had perviously proved unsuccessful — but Orkney Islands Council has confirmed this week that remedial work is due to begin on Monday, April 25.
The swimming pool, which was the first to be built in the outer isles and will be 40 years old next year, has been closed for some time, due to issues including maintenance, COVID and the retention of qualified lifeguards.
