Hoy and Wyre archaeology updates

Orkney Archaeology Society is hosting an evening of updates on work at Cantick on Hoy and Ha’breck on Wyre.

Site director Dan Lee will talk about inside of the stonebuilt early Neolithic houses on Wyre including a remarkable layer of burnt grain, suggesting that one building may have been used to process and store grain.

The Hoy update features the results of the final season of work at Roeberry Barrow, Cantick. The monument has a remarkable history spanning 3,000 years — from a Neolithic chambered tomb to Iron Age/Pictish square barrow.

The talk will take place tomorrow, January 31, at 7.30pm in the St Magnus Centre — £2 for members, £3 for non-members.
