Have your say on Hoy renewables housing

Orkney Islands Council is gathering views from anyone with an interest in the renewables industry, and its potential impact on housing in Hoy, to take part in two
questionnaires.

The first will be distributed to renewables companies who are either working in Orkney or who may be looking to do so in the future. The second accommodation providers in Graemsay, Hoy and Walls.

OIC’s Strategic Development Officer, Evelyn Mathershaw, said: “The Development Brief for Lyness does have an area identified for future housing, but
we want to evaluate if, and when, housing might potentially be required in Lyness over the next three to five years.

“We’ll be asking people who currently provide accommodation such as B&B’s and private rental property owners whether they have noticed an uptake in demand,
and what their capacity would be for increases. Similarly, we’ll be asking renewable companies for feedback on their experiences securing accommodation for staff and future likely needs.”
