Hard-working North Ronaldsay woman to be given ‘dream holiday’

North Ronaldsay resident, Sarah Moore, is to be given a paid holiday as part of a campaign by the company behind Corona beer. She is pictured at the island’s lighthouse where she does one of the six jobs she currently holds.

A woman living in North Ronaldsay, who currently holds six jobs on the island, is to be given the opportunity to go on her dream holiday, courtesy of one of the world’s best-known beer brands.

Originally from Edinburgh, Sarah Moore, 26, holds a range of job titles on the island, including firefighter, postie, home carer and lighthouse tour guide.

The Corona beer company got in touch with her while searching for the UK’s hardest workers, as part of a promotional campaign for their new ‘out of office’ generator, called WOOOHOOO. She is to be given a £2,000 travel gift voucher to plan her dream holiday courtesy of the company.

As part of the beer company’s campaign, research was commissioned, looking at how ‘out of office’ workers in the UK actually are when they take holidays.

Corona said that, of 2000 adults in the UK asked, 40 per cent feel guilty about taking time off work, 29 per cent  took less than half of their holiday allowance in the space of 12 months and, when they do get the chance to escape the office, nearly half said that their employer or colleagues expect them to be available on calls or emails during their days off, with 50 per checking emails when they should be relaxing.
