The NorthLink vessel Hamnavoe has experienced difficulties berthing in Stromness and has headed into Scapa Flow to wait for the weather to subside.

She left Scrabster at 10.05am and was due in at 12.05pm — later than scheduled — however, was unable to dock even with assistance from the OIC tug Harald and a pilot boat.

James Linklater, NorthLink customer care manager, said: “She’s made an attempt to get in to berth at Stromness which was unsuccessful due to the severity of the weather.

“As soon as the weather gives us an opportunity we will try to get in to berth again.”
