Fourth District Cup in the bag for Orkney

Orkney beat Edinburgh University 4s 4-0 in the Scottish District Cup Final.

Orkney’s hockey side sealed a fourth District Cup victory, with a dominant 4-0 victory over Edinburgh University 4s.

It was the islanders’ prowess from penalty corners, scoring a hat-trick from some enterprising set-piece play, which sealed back-to-back District Cup titles for Orkney.

Hannah Cromarty opened the scoring on 27 minutes, with the midfielder alert to latch onto a rebound from a well-worked penalty corner, to put Orkney 1-0 up at the break.

Charlotte Bruce got a second ten minutes into the second-half, flicking the ball into the goal from another penalty corner, while Bethin MacDonald’s accurate finish ended the match as a contest.

Lauren Gilmour completed the scoring late on to leave Orkney to celebrate another day to remember in Glasgow.
