Fine for Kirkwall shoplifter

A man who went on a shoplifting spree in Kirkwall on May 25 has been fined £150.

Appearing at Kirkwall Sheriff Court yesterday, Wednesday, 50-year-old Arvydas Segzdavicius, whose address was given in court as Vilnius, Lithuania, admitted stealing a toy bike and three torches from William Shearer’s, a T-shirt from Gorn’s Menswear, a pen set from the Edinburgh Woollen Mill, and a ceramic face from an address in St Olaf’s Place.

Pleas of not guilty were accepted by the court to further charges of stealing a mini-manicure set from Boots, a pen and note pad set from Little Island, and also a box of fudge, an umbrella and a purse.

Representing Segzdavicius, solicitor David Edgar said his client had offered no explanation for his behaviour, adding: “He is ashamed at what he has done and has asked me to tender his apologies to all concerned.”
