Over 150 tractors and other agricultural vehicles lit up the streets of Kirkwall this evening in a festive show that delighted and captivated the Orkney community.

Tractors of every size, age and type took part in the Christmas run, attracting a huge number of onlookers to witness a monumental and tremendous effort from Orkney’s farming community to provide some holiday sparkle.

It is believed that 158 brightly-lit vehicles took part in the festive display.

It was a heartening display on a fine night, with some impressive light shows, full of imaginative designs including music systems, a huge Santa, and a Christmas tree made of tractor tyres.

Money raised from the run, which began at 6pm, is being donated to CLAN and the MS Therapy Centre in Kirkwall.

At the time of writing, the JustGiving page had raised over £18,000 with the page being inundated with donations such was the success of the event.

Steven Sinclair, who co-organised the event alongside Graham Nicolson, thanked everyone who played their part, whether it was taking part in the run or looking on from the sidelines.
