False alarm at County Show dance investigated

Shortly after midnight on Saturday night, August 11, a fire alarm was activated at the Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall, and it is suspected that the activation may have been malicious.

The centre was evacuated during the County Show dance and a Scottish Fire and Rescue crew were required to respond to the activation.

Police want to speak to anyone who may have been a witness to the alarm being activated close to the entrance/exit to the event smoking area on the ground floor.
