An exhibition showcasing the work of a new art collective, established by a group of young Orkney-based graduates, is set to open in Kirkwall next weekend.

Named MÓTI, the collective’s members have studied in Kirkwall, Glasgow, Skye, London and Toronto, with their work spanning a variety of disciplines — from photography, painting and printmaking, to textiles, sculpture, installation art and moving images.

Titled Introducing MÓTI, the group’s inaugural exhibition will present a series of individual works responding to the theme of “Time”, which has been chosen collectively to reflect the transition from student to emerging artist.

The exhibition, at the Orkney Museum, opens on November 5 and includes work from Louise Barrington, Susan Boyd, Kristyn Grieve, Mary Grieve, Frances Scott and Sigurd Smith.
