Education grants now open for applications

Orkney Islands Council is advising that applications are now open for assistance towards the cost of supporting young people to continue their studies.

There are two type of grants available through the council — Education Maintenance Allowance (EMAs) and Further Education Bursaries. EMAs are payments of £30 per week for students aged 16 and over and are subject to household income thresholds. Bursaries are awarded to students pursuing further education on a first come, first served basis. Full details and eligibility requirements for both types of grants are available on the Council website at: www.orkney.gov.uk/OIC-News/education-grants-open

You can also contact the council’s Education Grants team on 873535 extension 2416 or 2450, or education.grants@orkney.gov.uk
