Early disruption warnings for ferry services

In light of the yellow weather warnings issued for Orkney earlier this week, ferry services in the isles have issued early disruption alerts for their services.

Orkney Ferries is reporting that all their sailings are under review for tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday, due to the strong winds and swell conditions forecast, while Northlink has said there is a probability of disruption to their services between tomorrow and Sunday.

Orkney Islands Council is not reporting disruption to any other services at this time but is advising the public to keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

Storm Caroline is due to bring gale force and winds to the county as of tomorrow, Thursday, according to the MET office. The national weather service has reported that the low pressure system is set to trigger wind speeds of up to 70mph along with a drop in temperature, which could result in blizzards.
