MV Earl Thorfinn.

MV Earl Thorfinn will resume service on Thursday, Orkney Ferries has confirmed.

The North Isles vessel was recently taken out of service after a leak was discovered in the hull.

In an update this Tuesday evening, Orkney Ferries confirmed that the ferry has passed all inspection checks at drydock in Fraserburgh and has been cleared to sail.

She will be departing for Kirkwall on Wednesday morning and arriving late afternoon, and Orkney Ferries will be resuming with the summer timetable from Thursday morning

An Orkney Islands Council spokeswoman on behalf of Orkney Ferries said: “Orkney Ferries recognises that this disruption will have had a significant impact for their customers, particularly those within our Island Communities.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding during this period and we apologise for any inconvenience that this disruption to the service has caused.”
