Drugs operation in the county

A police sniffer dog was brought in as part of a drugs operation in Orkney at the weekend.

As a result, there was one positive search, and the suspected substances have been sent for analysis, according to Sergeant Derek Robb.

One police handler and dog carried out various checks at Kirkwall airport, the main ferry ports at Hatston, Stromness and St Margaret’s Hope and the majority of licensed premises within Kirkwall.

Sgt Robb explained that it was a routine operation, as a follow up to last year’s visit.
