An award-winning distillery is set to move into the most significant chapter in its history, as major expansion plans move forward.

Plans brought forward by Deerness Distillery to create a new whisky stillhouse and a new café, shop and visitors’ space to the East Mainland gained approval by the islands authority recently, signalling a significant step forward for the acclaimed drinks maker.

It is hoped that the exciting plans could lead to a jobs boost, enhance an already-popular visitor attraction and bring more people to Deerness and the wider area.
