Disqualification and £1,400 fine for drink-driver

A 44-year-old man has been disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined a total of £1,400 after admitting a number of motoring offences.

Stewart Foulis, Holmfirth, St Mary’s, appeared from custody at Kirkwall Sheriff Court today, Monday before honorary sheriff Bob Sclater.

Foulis admitted driving a van without due care and attention at the junction of St Mary’s and St Andrews, leaving the road and colliding with a garden fence.

He further pled guilty to driving with 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the 35 microgramme limit, and also to failing to give his name and address.
