Darts fever grips Orkney

Final preparations are being made for one of the biggest sporting events of the summer — the Orkney Darts Classic — which takes place on Saturday at the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall.

The eight world-class darts names travelling to the county to compete are current world champion Adrian Lewis, Robert Thornton, Andy Fordham, Mark Webster, Co Stompe, John Henderson, Simon Whitlock, and Aaron Monk.

Local qualifiers, Keith Chalmers, Kevin Gray, Michael Bain, Stevie Linklater, James Flett, Brian Moar, Ivan Leslie, and Jim McDill, will also line up against their respective opponents at the tournament.

Well known voice of darts, John Gwynne, a regular commentator on Sky TV will act as MC on the big stage. Doors open at 1.30pm.
