Casualty recovered following Birsay coastal search
A casualty has been recovered following a search and rescue operation off the coast of Birsay last night.
According to RNLI Stromness Lifeboat, volunteer crew members were paged shortly after 11pm on Sunday to go in search of a person reported missing in the Marwick Head/Brough of Birsay area.
They were joined by coastguard shore teams and the coastguard helicopter, and between the crews they were able to search the water, the shore and cliffs and the cliff tops.
Late into the night a casualty was discovered on shore and the lifeboat was stood down just before 2am.
