Buoy warning to mariners

Aberdeen Coastguard have issued a warning to mariners concerning what appears to be two unlit buoys, possibly adrift, in the Pentland Firth.

A spokesman said: “We have had reports of two unlit buoys to the south of Stroma and would advise all vessels to keep a look-out and navigate with caution.

“If possible, vessels should try and avoid this area.”

He added that one of the buoys may be fixed and the other drifting, but as yet, it was not entirely clear what they are, or where they came from.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Aberdeen Coastguard on 01224 592334.
