BBC Alba to screen Orkney goose investigation

An invasive goose problem, that spans Orkney and the Hebrides, is to be the focus of BBC ALBA’s Eorpa tonight.

Donald Lamont will investigate a new scheme to deal with greylag geese, which is to be trailed in Orkney.

The programme looks at the Scottish Governments new initiative which will be rolled out in Orkney, Lewis and Harris, Uist, Tiree and Coll.

Though many fear this will not be enough to deal with birds some feel are threatening their way of life.

Featuring interviews with gamekeepers, councillors and crofters in the areas affected, the programme also puts their concerns to Environment and Land Reform Minster Mairi McAllan.

The programme airs tonight, Thursday, March 24, and will be available to watch on the BBC iPlayer for 30 days after.
