Work to repair the crash barriers on the second Churchill Barrier is due to get underway next week, from Monday, January 8, onwards.

The crash barriers on either side of the causeway suffered significant storm damage last month during Storm Caroline.

The repair work, which is weather dependant, will take around two weeks to complete.

While underway, a convoy system for traffic will be in place to ensure the safety of drivers and the team carrying out the work.

Orkney Islands Council would like to thank motorists in advance for their help and co-operation and say every effort will be made minimise disruption to traffic and avoid delays.
