Stromness Shopping Week in full swing

One of the most anticipated events on the Orkney calendar, Stromness Shopping Week, is taking place this week, with the official opening taking place this morning.

The week of events kicked off yesterday, with a church service held and a hack around the town boundary.

Today sees the official opening of Stromness Shopping Week, by Anne Stockan, and the introduction of the shopping week, Megan MacLeod, and her attendants.

The week will continue with a variety of events, including the fancy dress competition, the yard of ale, the crabbing competition, and much more.

This year’s event has also seen the opening of the new staging area in front of the Stromness Town House.
