Stage set for drama festival finals

The Scottish Community Drama Association’s 2017 northern divisional Finals kicks off in the Orkney Theatre tonight.

The event which takes place over three nights, will feature performances from three Orkney teams, as well as district finalists from Perthshire, Aberdeen and Angus.

The adjudicator for the event is Brian Marjoribanks, who is an experienced television and stage actor, and has adjudicated the British Amateur Drama Festivals, the Scottish finals and the Scottish youth finals of the One Act Festival in the past.

Competing tonight are Palace Players (Bishops) with Colin and Mary Crowther’s Silent Night, Stromness Drama Club (Hamnavoe), with The Widows of Clyth (Act 1) by Donald Campbell and Birsay Drama Group — Nell’s Belles (Excerpts) by Kjartan Poskett.
