Give unwanted items a second chance with the ‘Big Electric Amnesty’

Don’t hoard them – donate them!

Orkney Islands Council is urging local folk to give unwanted items a second chance this spring, as part of Pass It On Week.

The council is setting out boxes in public buildings for donation of unwanted — but still working — electrical items such as mobile phones, tablets, chargers and cables, earphones, set-top boxes, blenders, and handheld games.

ZeroWaste Scotland will ship donated items back to the mainland for recycling or reuse.

The Big Electric Amnesty box locations include Glaitness Primary School, Stromness Academy, the Pickaquoy Centre, School Place and the Warehouse Buildings and the Orkney Library.
