The story of Alexander Watt, a young Orkney man who died early in 1811.

In 44 years of his brief life, Watt saw active service all over the world as a front-line infantry officer in the British Army fighting in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.

He survived at least three major disasters at sea, writing home to his father in Orkney saying he was "obviously not born to be drowned".
