A royal start for 41st St Magnus Festival

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway are expected to attend the opening performance of St Magnus Festival, which kicks of this evening.

The 41st St Magnus Festival kicks off today, Friday with a Gala Opening Concert.

I, Pilgrim, due to make its premiere performance in St Magnus Cathedral this evening, has been billed as a reflection on homelessness and migration. Featuring both the Trondheim Soloists and BBC singers, its set to be the first in a programme of workshops and performances embracing the themes of Norway and Magnus 900.

Attending the event will be members of the Norwegian Royal Family, Crown Prince Haakon and his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who are expected to arrive in Kirkwall this afternoon.
