Palace Players win northern divisional finals

Orkney’s Palace Players have taken top spot in the Scottish Community Drama Association’s 2017 northern divisional finals, with their production of Colin and Mary Crowther’s Silent Night.

The Palace Players took the Alex Drummond Trophy tonight, while the Jess Milne Quaich for runner-up went to the Aberfeldy Drama Club (Perthshire) for Ring Road, by Anita Vettesse

Three Orkney teams were competing in the northern divisional finals, in Kirkwall, and all three took silverware.

The Kennedy Thomson Quaich for best stage presentation also went to Palace Players, while the Alan Nicol MBE trophy for best moment of theatre went to the Stromness Drama Club’s production of The Widows of Clyth.

The Bon Accord Cup, for the best team from a community of under 500, went to the Birsay Drama Group for Nell’s Belles, by Kjartan Poskett.

The Palace Players will now go on to represent the Northern Division at the Scottish finals, in Pitlochry, from April 13-15.
