The county’s inaugural rowing regatta is set to take place this Saturday, with 84 Shetland rowers due to travel south to compete.

Orkney’s rowers will compete against their Northern Isles rivals, who are set to bring six boats south, in six races.

The regatta — due to be held in Burray bay from 1.30pm — will see six races on the day — veteran men, veteran women, veteran mixed, open men, open women, and open mixed.

The regatta comes twelve months after the club’s rowers competed in Lerwick and marks another step of progression for the club, who, just last month unveiled three new boats.
