Orkney attractions scoop tourism awards

Four Orkney tourist attractions picked up awards, including St Magnus Cathedral.

Four of Orkney’s leading attractions dominated a tourism awards ceremony, held last month.

Skara Brae, the Italian Chapel, St Magnus Cathedral and Ring of Brodgar all received Visit Awards of Excellence during the 2017 CIE Tours Awards of Excellence, in Devon.

Based entirely on feedback from 14,000 customers who experienced 250 providers of accommodation, dining, tours and attractions throughout the UK, awards were given to those providers achieving an average customer satisfaction rating of 90 per cent or more.

Ken Massie, head of strategic partnerships at VisitScotland, was delighted to see several Orkney attractions pick up awards.

“We are lucky to have some of the best historical attractions in the country, but we need those warm and welcoming staff if we want to give visitors an unforgettable experience of Orkney,” he said.

“It is therefore great to see companies such as CIE Tours celebrating those who provide excellent service to our guests.”
