Kris Drever named Folk Singer of the Year

Kris Drever – Folk Singer of the Year.             (Genevieve Stevenson)

Orcadian musician Kris Drever has been named Folk Singer of the Year at the Radio 2 Folk Awards in London.

Kris was presented with the top award by Sharleen Spiteri, from the band Texas.

The accolade was his second win of the night, having already picked up the gong for Best Original Track for If Wishes Were Horses. This award was handed over by Countdown’s Susie Dent.

Unfortunately, Orkney’s Fara missed out, with the Horizon Award going to Daoiri Farrell.
