A walking talk with archaeologist Dan Lee, part of an exhibition celebrating the life of composer Peter Maxwell Davies, is set to take place on Hoy, this Saturday, June 17.

With this in mind, the walk — titled Andante (walking speed) — will take in the archaeology, heritage and folklore through the valley from Moaness to Rackwick. The walk will finish with a view across the township from above Bunnertoon, Max’s home for 28 years.

Andante (walking speed) takes place in conjunction with latest exhibition at Hoy Kirk heritage centre. Through newspaper clippings and interviews, Hoy Max explores how the island and its people shaped the Peter Maxwell Davie’s life and music.

Further information on both the walk and the exhibition can be found by contacting hoyheritage@btinternet.com or (01856) 850459.
