Orkney features in an episode of the BBC Scotland television series Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands next week.

The six-episode documentary series saw presenter Paul Murton travel to remote locations across Scotland.

On Monday, October 3, the programme, entitled From Flotta to Sanday: War and Peace in the North, sees him travel to Flotta, before heading around the Orkney Mainland and out to Stronsay.

In Sanday, he visits The Croft — the renovated but ‘n’ ben that shows how life once was on the island. There, he speaks to Jim and Rona Towrie, who lead the efforts to restore the old building.

Along the way, Paul also discovers stories of World War One, a mysterious sea monster, and Orkney selkies.

The programme airs on Monday, October 3, at 7.30pm on BBC One Scotland.
