St
Rognvald is last P&O boat away
Despite the big crowds, the St Ola was not the final P&O vessel to leave Orkney waters. The cargo vessel St Rognvald left Kirkwall at 11pm on Monday with freight bound for Aberdeen, when a small crowd gathered on the pier at Kirkwall to bid a final farewell to the P&O link with Orkney. Local P&O manager, Mr Arnold Calder, a former Pipe Major with Kirkwall City Pipe Band, piped the ship away as she left Kirkwall for the final time. (Picture: Graeme Smith) |
