Viewers to decide Cameron’s BB fate
By Lorraine Shearer
(Story dated June 19, 2003)

Cameron Stout
Still finding plenty to smile about . . . Cameron is up for eviction this week.

Orkney’s Cameron Stout will face the public vote for the first time this week, and his family fear he may be on the way out.

Cameron, Federico and Jon were nominated for eviction by fellow housemates, in the week they learned that two people will leave the house on Friday night.

The Orcadian was joined by camp comic Graham Norton in appealing for the public to get behind the fishtrader from Harray and vote to keep him in the house.

“They could just evict Federico twice, just to be sure. Is the joke over with Jon? I shall use up all my money voting Jon out. Cameron must stay. We love him. He’s gorgeous,” the comedian said on his Tuesday night show V Graham Norton.

Cameron received four nominations from Federico, Ray, Scott and Tania, the other two getting five each.

Psychologists had warned that Cameron would have to change his ways if he wanted to remain on the show.

During Sunday night’s usual run-down of events, one psychologist claimed Cameron was cramping the other boys’ style with his “moralistic attitudes”.

“Cameron is the one enigma in the Big Brother house. It is becoming increasingly apparent that Cameron is becoming uncomfortable with the rest of the group’s behaviour.

“Cameron will have to realise if he cannot connect to them, he may have to join them,” the psychologist added.

Younger brother Julyan Sinclair, who is travelling to London with mum Doris Stout for eviction night, predicted that both Scots will go.

“I am not holding out a lot of hope. I am not really that worried about it to be honest, but I would quite like him to stay in,” said Julyan.

Julyan feels Cameron will handle any eviction in his usual laid-back style.

“He was talking about being homesick. He has been in a month now, so I don’t think he will be heartbroken.”

Julyan would like to see Tania evicted and finds it hard to believe she hasn’t been nominated.

“They have been in the house for a month and she has on these false nails; not one has broken. The question is – has she ever put her hands in the sink, or done anything?”

Doris concluded that Cameron is “a strong character and will accept whatever happens.”

As far as the other housemates are concerned, Doris reckons Steph is probably closest to Cameron.

“She is a lovely, bubbly person, although I do not know what the outcome will be.”

The Orcadian continued to follow the third week of events in the house.

WEDNESDAY

Temptress Tania believes Cameron will be inundated with offers from women when he leaves the house – despite the fact she criticises him most of the time behind his back.

After a new haircut by Steph and Nush, Tania says his TV stardom and the new style will turn him into a ladykiller.

She told him: “You’ll have all the women after you. I can tell the type of lady who will like you, the type who will want you.”

He blushed as he replied: “Yeah, I could handle the attention. . .bring it on!”

It’s a hat-trick for the group as they fail their third task on the trot – the bell ringing.

Big Brother took pity on the housemates and offered them a Chinese takeaway if they could name the tune they had tried to play – An English Country Garden, which they did.

THURSDAY

Steph gets up close and personal with Cameron during a game of spin the bottle. Initially, she squeals and says she won’t do it, but after a minute she kisses his neck and nibbles his ear. We think the lady doth protest too much.

FRIDAY

Sissy – who was nicknamed the “ginger whinger” was evicted on Friday night, as Jon survived his third public vote and Federico his first.

Glaswegian Fed reckons they need some honorary women in the house, and asks Cameron if he would be up for the role.

But despite Cameron’s refusal, he is spending more and more time with the depleting stock of women as it becomes obvious he has little in common with the boys of the house.

SATURDAY

At last

. . .Cameron is in the pool with his top off! But he does have the traditional Scottish colouring underneath his tee-shirt.

Steph offers him some tips on getting an even tan. But he’s not bothered, saying his farmer’s tan (only brown on the back of the neck and forearms) will never be seen again anyway.

Task night. The group play a game of relay charades and Cameron gets through by the skin of his teeth, after getting a second go. He joins Ray, Federico, Tania, Nush and Steph in the secret room, which has been converted into a US 1950s diner.

They dance the night away in costume and enjoy burgers and fries and a supply of alcoholic cocktails.

SUNDAY

In today’s News of the World newspaper, third evictee Sissy Rooney says Cameron is her second favourite to win after Ray.

“He’s got a heart of gold and doesn’t even realise he’s on a game show,” she said. “He’s from this tiny little island and he has been plonked into this weird TV world. I’m going to fix him up with a girl when he gets out. He has given me all his specifications.”

MONDAY

The housemates face a new task this week in which they make superhero costumes. Cameron is “The Silver Fox” because of his greying hair and his motto is “Death to the Dye”. They gambled 85 per cent of their food budget on the challenge. If they win, they have £155 – but just £12 if they fail.

TUESDAY

Nominations day and our man, Cameron, will have to face the public vote on Friday for the first time. But who will go – you decide.

Despite widespread belief that Cameron will be one of the two housemates to be evicted this week, his mum Doris believes this will leave the house the poorer.

“I think he is a calming influence and there is a great fun side to him which we have not seen yet,” she said.

However, when chatting to Gos on Tuesday night, viewers were left with the impression that Cameron would rather be back among friends and family in Orkney than shut away with the remaining housemates – including the Fed, Ray and Scott clique and the remaining women.

Cameron will find out one way or the other when host Davina McCall reveals who has been evicted tomorrow night.
