Breaking point may be close, says little brother Julyan
(Story dated June 12, 2003)

Orkney’s Big Brother hopeful Cameron Stout could be close to breaking point, according to his younger brother.

As the 32-year-old survived a third round of nominations this week, Julyan Sinclair warned that viewers could be about to see his brother’s “dark side”.

“He does come to a point when he will explode. He would never be physically violent, but he will verbally explode.

“When we used to play fight, I would try to punch him, but for someone who does not exercise he is helluva strong and he would grab me and I couldn’t move.”

Cameron received two nominations this week by Federico and Ray, but that wasn’t enough to put him up for eviction.

Federico was unhappy with Cameron’s audible Bible reading, while Ray gave a reason based on hearsay after an incident in the reward room at the weekend when Cameron was supposed to have told the others to behave themselves.

Cameron nominated Federico and Jon, who along with Scouser Sissy are up for eviction by public vote this week.

Tempers have been hotting up in the Big Brother house since the housemates lost their second challenge, leaving them with only £36.23 to spend on food.

They have gambled 65 per cent of their weekly shopping budget on passing this week’s bell ringing challenge. They have to memorise 95 notes in sequence.

Some of the group are looking towards musical Cameron to lead them in the challenge – but he’s not happy and has been finding solace in his Bible.

The Christian retreated to the boys’ bedroom and read aloud passages from the book, interestingly enough it was passages about food – something which is in short supply in the house at the moment.

Julyan, a freelance TV presenter, said it would be the latest task which might tip Cameron over the edge.

“The first bit of game play is him consciously not taking part in the bell ringing. He is the guy most qualified to do it with his musical background, but to Cameron’s credit, he is not getting into the argument. He says what he needs to say and will not say it again.

“That is kind of what he is like. I think consciously, because he is the oldest, he may not want to take on the leader role. I think he is finding it difficult because they are not getting ahead with the task.”

Cameron has been wandering about the house sighing a lot too, Julyan observed.

“That is a sign he is getting a bit closer to ‘right, what is going on in here’?”

Mum, Doris Stout, from Stromness, says she has noticed Cameron getting a bit annoyed about the bell ringing task and everybody speaking at once.

But despite his difficulties, the family are still receiving messages of support from everyone around them.

“Everyone you speak to mentions it, but that is about it. Everybody says he seems to be doing well,” she said.

Up for eviction tomorrow night are Federico, Jon and Sissy, and you can still get odds of 7/1 on Cameron to win Big Brother at Rail’s Bookmakers in Kirkwall.
