Monks' work continues to develop Golgotha island monastery
 

It has now been more than six years since an order of Catholic monks and priests - the Transalpine Redemptorists - bought the island of Papa Stronsay, with the ambition of establishing a monastery on the site thought to contain the most northerly early Christian monastic ruins in the world.

Reporter Fiona Nichol was invited to have a look around the island to see how the monastery has been taking shape, what the brothers have accomplished so far during their stay on the island and how their plans for the future - both on Papa Stronsay and further afield - are shaping up.

William Sichel season started this year with his first serious attempt at breaking a British athletic record or two.

The records he decided to go for are the British Age Group 24 hour indoor record of 212.97km/132.3 miles which was set way back in 1988.

The 24-year-old Stromness woman has recently taking up a volunteering position at a children’s home called the Casa de Amor (House of Love) in the city of Cochabamba in the Latin American republic of Bolivia.

There she cares for children who call the streets their home.

Sydney's 15-year seaplane dream finally set to take off
 

An 88-year-old Orcadian is about to witness the completion of a long-held dream, as his self-built aeroplane undergoes final checks before taking to the air.

Sydney Bichan of Stenaquoy, Orphir, started work on the Kingfisher seaplane, only the second of its kind every to be built in the UK, 15 years ago.
