The Orcadian's business operations
are divided between two separate locations in Kirkwall.
The newspaper's editorial
team share a premises in Kirkwall historic town centre with
the Bookshop.
Opened in 1999, this building is
in Albert Street, situated near to the "Big Tree" and
on the site of the former Atholl Cafe.
The other half of the company is
based in the outskirts of Kirkwall, in the area of Hatston known
to locals as "Hell's Half Acre".
Built in 1996, the print centre can
be classed as the nerve-centre of the organisation as it not only
houses the print and production departments but also accounts, sales
and advertising.
Modern communications technology
and one of the biggest private computer networks in the north of
Scotland means that the short distance between these two operations
is virtually insignificant.
