  • 7.30pm Tree lighting

Wednesday, 30th November ~ STROMNESS

  • 5.45pm Salvation Army Brass Band play at the Pierhead
  • 6.00 p.m. Tree lighting ceremony at Town House opened by the Reverend Fiona Lillie
  • 7.30pm Concert in the Church of Scotland, featuring local musicians and The Hordaland Youth Chamber Orchestra
  • 5.45 p.m. Salvation Army Brass Band at the Pierhead

Wednesday, 30th November ~ STENNESS

  • 7.00pm Tree lighting followed by music in the Community Centre featuring The Hordaland Youth Chamber Orchestra

Friday, 2nd December ~ ORPHIR

  • 5.00pm Tree lighting followed by music in the Community Centre featuring The Hordaland Youth Chamber Orchestra

Friday, 2nd December ~ DOUNBY

  • 6.30pm Tree lighting followed by other events in the Plout Kirn, featuring Kirkwall Town Band

Friday, 2nd December ~ FINSTOWN

  • 6.45pm Tree lighting followed by music with the Primary School Choir and The Hordaland Youth Chamber Orchestra

Saturday, 3rd December ~ KIRKWALL

  • 5.30pm Kirkwall City Pipe Band on Broad Street
  • 5.55pm Procession of official party from the Town Hall to the Cathedral
  • 6.00pm St Lucy Procession, programme of music and carols featuring The Hordaland Youth Chamber Orchestra, the Orkney Schools Junior Youth Choir and the Orkney Traditional Music Project in St Magnus Cathedral
  • 7.00pm Hordaland Tree and Festive Light switch-on by Hordaland Vice-Convener, Tom-Christer Nilsen
  • 7.30pm Orkney Norway Friendship Association Family Buffet and Dance, Kirkwall Town Hall

  • 11.15am At the morning service, the Christmas tree (a gift from the Fjaere Kirk, Grimstad, to the congregation) will be lit
  • 7.30pm Concert: Fauré’s Requiem and Christmas choruses from Handel’s Messiah, with the Festival Chorus; and music from Norway with the Hordaland Youth Chamber Orchestra

Friday, 9th December ~ ST MARGARET’S HOPE

  • 7.30pm Tree lighting in Cromarty Square
  • 8.00pm “A Crazy, Cracking Christmas Concert” in the ’Hope Primary School
