Stromness Museum exhibition focuses on Big Brother
winner Cameron This
year's summer exhibition at Stromness Museum, 'Cameron & the Big Brother
Experience', is the story of Stromness man Cameron Stout's time on the Channel
4 reality show.
On display are personal photos loaned by Cameron and his family, and artefacts that were seen on the popular TV show. Among the items on display are the elephant mask he made in the Big Brother Africa house, Christmas presents received from Big Brother towards the end of the show, props, passes and the leprechaun outfit he wore in the reward room. Orkney Heritage's Exhibitions Officer, Tom Muir, explained the thinking behind the exhibition. He said: "The initial idea came from Janette Park, the Orkney Museum's Social History Curator and Honorary Curator of Stromness Museum. As it was the biggest news story in Orkney during 2003, we felt it was something that people would want to know more about, and as Cameron is a Stromness man it was appropriate that it should be displayed in Stromness Museum. Cameron has been very kind and helpful throughout the whole project, giving his time and lending photos and artefacts for the display." The exhibition opens on Saturday 3rd April and will run until September.
