In conjunction with sponsors W. H. B Sutherland and Focus on Orkney, our photographic competition will run for the next six months. We are inviting entries from young and old, from happy snappers to experts behind the lens. The competition subject is simply Orkney 2004. We want to compile a snapshot of life in the county during this, The Orcadians 150th anniversary. There will be monthly prizes between now and the end of August for the top three photographs in two sections: 18 and under and over 18. Digital images can be entered by e-mail to: competitions@orcadian.co.uk or by high quality print. You should include your name, address, telephone number, age and a description in no more than 150 words of how, when and where you took your entry and the type of camera you used. Judging panel A panel of three judges will cast a critical eye over the entries. They are:Torquil Clyde, from Focus on Orkney, Stuart Laundy, news editor, The Orcadian, and Frank Bradford, a former national newspaper photographer, who now lives in South Ronaldsay. All monthly winners will go forward to a grand final at the beginning of September, with the champion receiving a state-of-the -art digital camera, courtesy of our sponsors.
