Island Games Football

The Orkney squad in action against Rhodes on Sunday.

The Island Games continue in warm, humid conditions in the Channel Islands today, with the Orkney competitors continuing in table tennis, badminton and clay pigeon.

The archery contest began today, with Jim Middlemas and Graham Brough in 9th (with 740 points) and 26th (with 536 points) place respectively in the men's recurve. In the women's recurve, Danielle Corsie was 10th with 588 points and Annabel Eltome-Middlemas 13th with 540. The Orkney team came sixth in the Single FITA Recurve team event.

Orkney's team in the Olympic trap team clay pigeon final, Antoine Pietri and Dennis Stevenson, came ninth with a score of 113. In table tennis Orkney were beaten again, this time by Gotland.

The Orkney team have been knocked out of the main badminton team competition, but in the runner-up league today, the squad beat Bermuda 1-4 and, as we updated the website at 4pm, were beating the Falkland Islands 3-1.

The Orkney football squad face Guernsey this evening at 7.30pm.
