Around

viewing the sky impossible, thus blocking out the view of the rare
astronomical phenomenon.
Around
500 people had travelled to Orkney hoping for a glimpse of the eclipse.

Inquiry
report delivers verdict on Local Plan
|
| |
The
findings of a public inquiry into Local Plan - the OIC document
outlining their planning policies for the next five years - have
now been published.
The inquiry considered plan objections, the majority of which related
to housing sites in Kirkwall and Stromness.
The
most significant objections centred on Scottish Natural Heritage's
objections to proposed Stromness housing sites. Although the reporter
accepted the OIC's argument, he recommended the deletion of a site
at Brownstown, together with the reduction in size of another site
at Hillside Road. To compensate, the inclusion of a second site
at Hillside Road and another at Netherton Road was also suggested.
The
full report is available from the OIC website
