| Making A Purchase Making a purchase from our online catalogue of Orkney books could not be easier. Just browse through the catalogue, and click on any items that you wish to buy to put them into the shopping cart. When you have finished your selection, click on "Order" and you will be asked for a few details we need to be able to satisfy the order. We accept credit and debit card payment - Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Delta and Visa Electron. If you are shopping outside the United Kingdom, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency. We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped. | |

| Delivery Schedule We post stock orders within 48 hours and most other titles within seven working days. However, there are always exceptions and if your order cannot be processed within these times, we will inform you by e-mail. International Orders are shipped using Surface Mail. | |
| Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait. | |
| Tax Charges United Kingdom: There is no VAT on books in the UK as they are currently Zero Rated. European Union: There is no additional tax or import duty payable on orders from EU countries as all prices include UK VAT at current rates. Books are currently Zero Rated for VAT in the United Kingdom. Other countries: No UK VAT or other taxes are charged on orders delivered, and also paid for, from outwith the European Union. As duties and taxes vary from country to country customers must make their own enquiries and arrangements regarding import of books. Shipping charges: VAT is applied to shipping charges at the same rate as the goods being supplied. Where goods with different tax rates (i.e. some at Zero Rate and some at Standard Rate) are despatched together the applicable rate is the pro-rata for the shipment. | |

We know that when you shop online, you want to know that your name, address, credit card details and any other information you give us is kept safe and secure, and we promise to do that. We know of no documented cases of credit card fraud using our shopping system over the Internet. All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using military-strength 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site. Using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption, the details you enter with an order can only be decoded by the Orcadian Bookshop. | Guarantee We want you to be completely satisfied every time you shop with us. However, we appreciate that you may want to return damaged items. Our guarantee means that if for any reason you are unhappy with the condition of your purchase, you can return it to us in its original condition, within 30 days, and we will issue a replacement.
