Dounby were crowned 2013 Champions of the Craigmyle Cup. Can they repeat that success?

The Craigmyle Cup Final is due to be played tonight with Dounby taking on fellow West Mainland side, Stromness. Both sides will be desperate to get their hands on some silverware to end the closing weeks of the season on a high, and recently played each other in the ‘A’ League, with Stromness scoring a last-minute penalty for a 1-0 victory.

Dounby secured an impressive 2-1 victory over ‘A’ League champions Rovers in the quarter finals before disposing of St Andrews 2-0 to reach the final. Stromness, meanwhile, survived a nervy penalty shoot-out against Rendall in the quarter finals, after the game was tied at 1-1 after extra time. However, they managed to hold their nerve in the shoot-out to win 3-1. In the semi-finals, they thumped Kirkwall side, Hotspurs 5-1.

Dounby have an impressive pedigree in the Craigmyle Cup in recent seasons, winning it in 2013 before losing to Rovers in the final last year.

The game is due to kick off at 6:15pm at the Pickaquoy pitch.
