First home game for ORFC

Orkney RFC welcome Motherwell-based side, Dalziel to the Pickaquoy today as they seek to bounce back from an opening day defeat in the BT National League Division 3. With both teams suffering defeats last weekend, they will both be desperate to get their first win on the board. A disappointing first-half display left Orkney too much to do last Saturday as a second-half fight-back fell just short, eventually losing 31-28 to Perthshire RFC while Dalziel lost 10-18 at home to Dumfries. However, with a home crowd roaring them on, Orkney will be hopeful that they can get their first win of the campaign.

Orkney have played Dalziel only once before, losing 32-17 in 1999 but this will be the first time that the central belt side has travelled North. They finished 9th in the league last year, amassing 38 points.

The Orkney squad for today’s game is: 1. Matthew Byers,  2. Scott Rendall, 3. Kevin Sinclair, 4. Sean Cursiter, 5. David Hamilton, 6. Don Tualasea, 7. Darren McLean, 8. Alan Brown, 9. William Thomson, 10. James Linklater, 11. Kyle Robb, 12. Denis Hayes, 13. Graham Poke, 14. Scott Russell, 15. Philip Ross, 16. Craig Rendall, 17. P.J McGrath, 18. Steven Groat and 19. Al Watson.

Kick-off is at noon.
