SNP confirms candidate for 2016 Holyrood election

Local academic Professor Donna Heddle has been selected as the Scottish National Party’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Orkney seat in the 2016 Holyrood election.

Following her selection, Prof Heddle said “It is a great honour to be chosen to contest the Orkney seat on behalf of the SNP.

“I am looking forward to the campaign ahead, during which I will focus on the specific economic and social challenges we face here in Orkney.”

The director for the Centre for Nordic Studies UHI, Prof Heddle was the SNP candidate in the 2011 election.
