Rousay rainfall in June highest in 40 years

The rainfall in Rousay last month was 89.7mm — the highest recorded for June 40 years.

According to John Vetterlein, June 2004 came close, with 88.9mm.

The figure is considerably higher than the average June rainfall over a 42-year period — 61mm.

Mr Vetterlein added that the month also saw some of the lowest sunshine and temperature figures for a similar period.
